Fiber is a very fast type of future proof internet that sends information using light through tiny glass fibers. Since light travels so fast, fiber provides smoother streaming, faster upload/downloads, and minimal lag even with multiple devices.
Fiber is more reliable and has less interruptions compared to traditional cable. Nothing can interfere with a fiber optic network connection, except a physical cut to the fiber or destruction of the building where it is located. Fiber offers symmetrical upload and download speeds, which is a huge benefit for working from home or gaming. No more worries about dropped connections while binge watching your favorite show!
Yes. Access to fiber can increase a home's value by 4.9% as stated in a study done by the Fiber Broadband Association and RVA LLC Market Research & Consulting Consumer Survey in 2023. It also improves the economic performance of a community as well as its quality of life.
Yes. Households now have an average of 10 devices connected to the internet at once. All of these devices have to share the available bandwidth. The higher your Mbps, the more devices you can have connected at one time. No more asking someone to stop using the connection in order for you to be able to surf or stream.
Yes. ShelbyFiber offers a maintenance plan for $5 per month. The maintenance plan covers repairs and/or replacement of customer premise equipment (CPE) or equipment found at the customer's home, damage to inside fiber (excluding willful damage or damage due to negligence), and service call fees. For example, a new CPE is $479.00 plus tax and service calls are $70 per visit. Any added equipment you may have, including a router, is your responsibility and will not be covered under this plan. In addition, service calls needed due to an operator error or subscriber equipment (hardware or software) problems will not be covered under our maintenance plan.

A drop is the final, dedicated fiber cable that connects the main network on your street directly to your home, farm, or business. Think of the fiber drop as the 'driveway' of your internet connection. This small, durable line carries light signals, giving you the fastest, most reliable internet available. It can be installed either above ground on a pole or buried underground.
